Nestled within a verdant neighborhood in Tianjin, China, a Provencal-style villa has undergone a remarkable transformation by Diverse Studio, emerging as a tranquil haven of contemporary minimalism. What initially commenced as a renovation project for a car-enthusiast entrepreneur and his multi-generational family evolved into a two-year collaborative journey between the owner and the designer, culminating in a residence that harmoniously balances sculptural restraint with soulful warmth. While the exterior largely retains its quaint charm, animated by a distinctive wave-shaped canopy that heralds the home's new identity, the villa's interior has undergone a radical metamorphosis to cater to the family's needs. Drawing inspiration from the language of automotive aerodynamics, every wall, ceiling, and built-in element is crafted with seamless continuity. Sinuous partitions, rounded corners, and curvaceous bulkheads blur the boundaries between rooms, creating a sense of motion and fluidity. Arched openings and sculptural furnishings further amplify the home's spatial rhythm, adding a touch of elegance and dynamism.
